BEHIND THE SCREEN

Eryn is a three-time Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter whose attention to detail, uncanny ability to think outside the box, and a warm and inviting demeanor is what sets her apart from others in her field.

Those qualities have helped her build rapport with the community in the Mid-South where she currently works as the morning and midday anchor at WATN-TV, the ABC affiliate in the market. While at the station, she started a weekly segment called ‘Eryn Eats’ where she highlighted local restaurants and the impact of the pandemic on business. She also received a Midsouth EMMY for a promotion she helped create when she debuted at the station.

Eryn came to WATN-TV after spending three years as the morning anchor at WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia. During her time in the Peach State, she created and introduced a popular morning question segment, started a series highlighting positivity in the community as well as one creating conversations around tough topics, and helped grow ratings on the morning show.

Before Macon, Eryn spent nearly four years at WSPA-TV in Greenville, South Carolina. She also worked at WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from the Accelerated Master's Program at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in simultaneous fashion during a four-year program. She completed her Journalism Residency at KSNT-TV in Topeka, KS where she covered lead stories such as the aftermath of the same tornadoes that ravaged Joplin, MO. She also held internships at MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” in New York City and at WSB-TV in her hometown of Atlanta.

In the fall of 2012, Eryn won a Midwest EMMY for a documentary she filmed, produced and edited about gang life among Chicago’s youth. In 2016, She won a Southeast EMMY for her role in her morning show’s coverage of the historic South Carolina deadly flooding.

In her spare time, Eryn volunteers tutoring elementary students and helping them improve their reading skills. She is also active with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and can always be found getting a quick workout in at the gym.
